I find it hard to stop. All day there is a driving force keeping me pursuing the completion of my tasks–and I don’t like to stop until they’re done (Right now my IN tray is empty! This doesn’t happen too often.)
I came across a blog put out by Eastern Mennonite University called Soul Space (thanks for the link Stephen!) which encourages us to stop, pray, reflect. It has prepared prayers/readings/meditations that are meant to be read each day. The headings–Morning, Coming, Being With, Responding, and Evening–seem to follow the pattern of prayers of the hours.
Here’s today’s prayer under the heading ‘Being With:’
Lord Jesus Christ,
You see how bent over we are
Under the weight of the world’s habits.
Clear the path within our soul
Lift up our heads to see you
Our hearts to love you
To follow you
To stay with you.
